Free school breakfasts for disadvantaged children

After years in which many primary school teachers have been ensuring this service ‘one way or the other’, the government has decided that schools should return to providing breakfast for disadvantaged children. The measure is one of the ‘new proposals’ by the government for changes in the 2024 State Budget. PS Socialists removed breakfasts for disadvantaged children in 2017. The returned breakfasts will only be available to children on ‘Scale A’ – meaning to children of families whose annual income is less than €3,100.
