A HOT spot, and Wi-Fi (wireless internet access) point, has been set up by Loulé Câmara on Avenida José da Costa Mealha, where laptop users can access the internet for free.
A kiosk with an antenna has also been installed at the Municipal Music School. The initiative was financed by the câmara and set up by Algarve Digital, the company that has created websites for most of the Algarve câmaras.
This project, managed by Globalgarve Regional Development Agency, will be extended beyond the city to other areas of Loulé. In Quarteira, Praça do Mar will be the next zone to have Wi-Fi, followed by Avenida Infante de Sagres by Easter.
Wi-Fi will later be installed in Almancil, in the Jardim das Communidades, public garden. A spokesperson for the câmara said that these initiatives form part of a wider plan to “establish Loulé as a technologically advanced and user friendly area”.
