Vila da Luz Bowls Club is offering free instruction to anyone who is interested in learning more about flat green bowling.
Starting on July 5 and then on the following first and third Tuesday of July and August, there will be free lessons at the club situated at the rear of the Valverde Restaurant on the old road to Luz, from 6pm.
Experienced bowlers will be on hand to provide advice and all the equipment needed including shoes and bowls with those taking part asked only to bring something comfortable to wear.
A spokesman from the club said: “News articles and television shows normally link white haired, elderly players to bowls but this in not necessarily the case. Bowls is for every age although we put a lower age limit of 14 years on our green.”
