Electric car owners are now able to charge their vehicles for free at two car parks in Albufeira.
The initiative has been launched by Albufeira Câmara to encourage the use of environmentally friendly cars.
Carlos Quintino, a councillor for the Câmara, said: “Electric vehicles are the best mobility solution for addressing global warming, air quality levels and our dependence on fossil fuels and the municipality of Albufeira is working towards the defence of the environment with this initiative.”
There will be six charging points for electric cars around the city, four in the P1 car park next to Miradouro do Pau da Bandeira and two more in the P5 car park on Av. 25 de Abril in the centre of the old town.
Users will have to pay the standard fee to park but charging will be for free.
