Fourteen killed on roads in back-to-back Bank Holiday week

Fourteen people died in road accidents in the last week, 10 of them between the Thursday and Sunday Bank holidays, according to provisional accident data available on the National Republican Guard (GNR) website. Between midnight last Monday and midnight on Sunday, the GNR recorded 1,323 accidents in just its area of operation (in other words, this does not include PSP data, from urban areas), which caused 14 deaths and 26 serious injuries. Yesterday alone, there were 182 accidents, which caused four deaths and nine serious injuries – making it the day with the most victims, as citizens in the main were ‘on their ways home’.
