UPDATE: It was later confirmed that the man who sustained serious injuries, who according to Correio da Manhã tabloid was Portuguese and 32 years old, died in hospital. The three other people in the car, all Brazilian and aged 38, 41 and 43, sustained minor injuries.
Four people were injured, one of them seriously, after a collision on Saturday night between a train and a car at a level crossing in Quelfes, municipality of Olhão.
According to an Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command source, a car was rammed by a railway train at the Marim level crossing, next to the Olhão campsite, in the parish of Quelfes.
The accident resulted in four injuries, one serious and three minor.
According to the regional authority, the alert was given at 22h43.
