Former secretary of state for industry dies at age of 44

News that former secretary of state for industry João Vasconcelos died on Monday night as a result of a heart attack has shocked the political establishment, not least because the MP was only 44 years old. Vasconcelos was one of three PS Socialists who resigned over the ‘football freebie scandal’ dubbed GALPGATE that marked 2016. Since then he had continued working within the technology and start-up sector.

Says ECO online today, he was the mentor behind Techstars, a startup ‘accelerator’, member of various organisations like COTEC and the only recently appointed chairman of Flash Portugal, the micromobility ‘scooter share’ enterprise in rapid expansion throughout the country (click here).
