Former RTA president

FORMER RTA president Hélder Martins is taking over as managing director of the Quinta da Ombria development in Querença/Tôr to the north of Loulé.

The resort was recently approved by Loulé Câmara and the Loulé municipal assembly after 20 years of controversy and legal procedures from green organisations which claimed it is a threat to the environment and the region’s water reserves (see The Resident editions of February 15 and 29).

The Querença/Tôr underground aquiferous is the biggest and most important in the Algarve and this natural reserve will supply water for the wells and watering system for the buildings and golf courses to be constructed in the resort.

Hélder Martins was vice-president of Loulé Câmara and later president of the Algarve Tourism Board. He left RTA office in 2007 to join the Carlos Saraiva Group (CS Group), where he has been to date.
