Former minister dubs Golden Visa ‘scandal’ “unfounded”

Breaking his silence after so much controversy, former minister of internal administration Miguel Macedo has told the ongoing Golden Visa trial that the case is “unfounded”, based on a public prosecution flawed by “errors difficult to explain”.

Say reports, the “judge calmed him down, saying he had given a good summary of the case, demonstrating that the accusation is not well supported”.

Macedo faces charges of prevarication and influence trafficking.

If national media’s take on the trial’s progress is to be believed, the Golden Visa investigation which created such a major stink when it broke two years ago (click here) will be just the latest in a long line of ‘high profile scandals’ that subsequently collapse after huge public expense and much personal agony.
