Former Madeiran president wades into PSD leadership battle: “Rangel is unstable”

Former president of the regional government of Madeira, Alberto João Jardim, is fighting PSD leader Rui Rio’s corner in the leadership battle dividing the party ahead of January’s legislative elections. His latest attempt to sway militants has been to label contender Paulo Rangel “unstable”. “He has the masons behind him and the men of Passos Coelho and the social genocide (of the troika years)”, claims Jardim – while Rui Rio has said he means to pedal back on the exchanges of insults running up to internal elections on November 27 to concentrate on the upcoming elections.
