Former judge who falsified 59 trial results walks free

A former trial judge from Bragança has been handed a two-year-eleven-month suspended sentence for falsifying 59 cases. Miguel Vasconcelos was found guilty of marking the cases as concluded before they came to trial. He was also found guilty of abuse of power and IT falsification, but absolved of a charge of domestic violence. When his trial began last year, reports suggested Vasconcelos faced a maximum jail term of 19 years.
