HOTEL MONTE da Quinta Suites is closed temporarily for essential improvements and is due to reopen on January 31, 2009.
Banco Português de Negócios (BPN) had been the major shareholder of the hotel until the bank was nationalised. State run Caixa Geral de Depósitos has now taken charge.
The hotel, which opened in April 2008, makes up part of the Monte da Quinta Resort in Quinta do Lago. The Monte da Quinta Club, which makes up the remainder of the resort, is still fully operational and will remain open for the entire duration of the current works.
Marketing director, Fernando Alves, told The Resident it was a planned closure, over which a decision was made at a board meeting in late September. “We informed the tour operators immediately and so relocated only four or five guests, who were accommodated elsewhere within the Monte da Quinta Resort.”
He added: “We currently have several design companies working on architectural and aesthetic improvements to the hotel and we look forward to reopening at the end of January.”
