Former BES boss claims ‘no money’ to pay court costs

With his known assets ‘impounded’ by the State, and on €3 million bail since 2014, former BES bank boss Ricardo Salgado has run up over €30,000 in court costs, which his defence claims he cannot pay. The costs have been incurred in appeals to the Constitutional Court – all of which have been unsuccessful. A defendant in a number of investigations, Mr Salgado remains living in his Cascais mansion in reportedly vastly reduced circumstances.
