Barão de S. João National Forest will soon benefit from various actions to enhance its natural resources and ensure a more pleasant experience for visitors who are keen to be among nature, following the signing of an agreement between Lagos city hall and the local parish council.
The project will see an environmental information centre being set up at the current ‘Casa do Guarda’ in the forest, and a museum being created at the ‘A Paragem’ building in Barão.
Other initiatives include improving the running/fitness circuit in the forest and the hiring of a municipal employee who will be responsible for organising nature walks and assisting school groups.
It is hoped the project will be a welcome boost for tourism and culture.
