Foreigners to benefit from cooperation agreement

A “memorandum of cooperation” has been signed by the Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (SEF), the immigrants and border control authority, and the Safe Communities Algarve (SCA) association last month.
The document establishes a framework of cooperation between the two entities, with a view to informing the foreign community about the mission and tasks of the SEF, both in the area of internal security, compliance with documentation and issues relating to legalisation of stay in the national territory.
The agreement was signed by the Regional Director of SEF Algarve, Inspectora Superior Fátima Teixeira, and the president of SCA, David Thomas, at the SEF premises in Faro.
David Thomas said: “The agreement will help in the development of a number of new initiatives with the SEF as well as furthering awareness of various immigration matters among the foreign population here in the Algarve.”
