afpop, Portugal’s largest foreign residents’ association, continued the expansion of their Satellite Office programme in January with the first of their satellite days in Cascais.
After hosting a meal in the Hotel Londres in Estoril on January 19, afpop staff opened the satellite in the offices of Imperius Asset Management in Cascais on January 20, adding to the two Algarve satellites already operating in Almancil and Lagos.
Michael Reeve, afpop CEO, said: “It has been our aim for a long time to address the way that afpop serves the needs of its members. The fact that we are based in Portimão and that our head office is in the Algarve doesn’t mean we aren’t interested in the rest of the country and Madeira; it just means that we have to look for new ways to service the members that we have in those areas, and this new agreement with Imperius will enable us, in 2012, to have a base of operations here.
“We have in fact made a number of good new contacts in just this first visit and I am certain that there is more to come. I am delighted that we are able to work with Imperius and thank Matthew for his support for the work afpop does.”
Throughout 2012, Michael Reeve and afpop Marketing Coordinator David Thursfield will visit Cascais for two days each month and will seek to expand the range of services available to afpop members and also meet with other groups and organisations to look for new ways to work together.
They will also be on hand to meet with new and potential members in the area.
They have already arranged a visit to Torres Vedras to meet with businesses there and investigate ways to work with the large expatriate community on the ‘Silver Coast’.
Also involved in the visit was Chris Ireland, afpop Council President, who added: “We have a positive Business Plan for the coming year and beyond, which is looking to expand the association, both in terms of services and in the range of operations of afpop.”
