Foreign workers confined to warehouse in Vilamoura after man tests positive for Covid-19

Another group of foreign workers has been discovered living in poor conditions inside a warehouse, this time in Vilamoura’s industrial area, after one of them tested positive for Covid-19 last week. Another worker is also suspected of being infected after experiencing symptoms.

According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, around 30 people, “from Asian and African countries”, are confined to the warehouse.

The regional health authority ARS Algarve and GNR police are said to be monitoring the situation, while the Algarve’s health delegate visited the group on Tuesday.

Loulé Council is now preparing six “quarantine facilities” for people infected with the coronavirus: two in Quarteira, one in Salir, one in Almancil and a futher two at the Loulé and Boliqueime sports pavilions.
