Foreign affairs minister slams POLITICO’s criticism of Portuguese EU presidency spending “ridiculous”

Portugal’s minister for foreign affairs Augusto Santos Silva has slammed recent criticism of lavish spending by the Portuguese EU presidency as “ridiculous”. Himself the government’s key figure when it comes to the presidency’s day-to-day, Mr Santos Silva is not averse to ridiculing criticism or negative situations. He dubbed the ongoing British travel ban “absurd” back in January. It didn’t change anything. Now, he says POLITICO got it all wrong and is making a mountain out of a molehill. The situation however is that the POLITICO article was picked up by multiple news agencies (click here), while Mr Santos Silva’s response to it hasn’t.
