LIGA PORTUGAL BETCLIC:
Farense v Sporting Braga (Saturday 6pm)
Guimarães v Portimonense (Sunday 6pm)
Football league action returns this weekend following the international break with Farense welcoming seventh-placed Braga on Saturday evening while Portimonense travel to fifth-placed Vitória de Guimarães on Sunday.
The two Algarve top division clubs have not enjoyed the best of starts to the new season, Farense having recorded one win and three defeats and Portimonense two draws and two losses to date. It can only be hoped that most recent signings such as Igor Rossi, Caseres, Zé Luis and Luiz Felipe in Faro and Jasper, Dennis Adeniran and Zinho in Portimão can sufficiently strengthen their respective teams to help avoid a season-long relegation battle.
Portimonense can also hope for a return of influential midfielder Lucas Fernandes whose loan arrangement with Brazilian league leaders Botafogo expires in December and would be well advised to reinvest their anticipated €10 million sell-on clause windfall from the Udinese-Everton Beto transfer come January.
