Tavira Câmara is considering an initiative to use food left over from the municipality’s 13 schools to feed the poor in the area.
The idea, proposed by Socialist councillor Anunciação Simões, was immediately supported by Tavira Câmara President Macário Correia.
The best way to put the plan into action is currently being assessed.
Although it is difficult to predict the amount
of food left over on a daily basis, the Câmara believes that this project could be very successful in the community.
