A weekend food drive (April 12 and 13) has been organised by the parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro in a bid to help the region’s struggling families.
Supermarkets Intermarché, Pingo Doce, Aldi, Loja GI, Jumbo and Coviran are all taking part.
Shoppers will be encouraged to donate anything from ‘staples’, like rice, pasta, milk and tinned goods, to other items.
Food drives like this are all designed to help low-income families weather the effects of the economic crisis.
