REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS of the Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome (Portugal’s food bank against hunger) is officially inaugurated today (Friday May 4) in Faro.
Faro Câmara President, José Apolinário, is presiding over the ceremony accompanied by Adriano Pimpão, former headmaster of the Algarve University and now president of the regional Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome.
The food bank is located at Urbanização Santo António do Alto, in a building provided by Faro Câmara. A network of volunteers from private charitable organisations will distribute the food goods to the many needy families living locally.
