Flu peak

Ana Jorge, the Portuguese Minister for Health, has called for continuing vigilance to help combat the H1N1 virus despite it having already peaked in Portugal.

The declaration by the Minister coincided with comments made by the Secretary General of the World Health Organisation, Margaret Chan, who said that the worst of the infection on a global scale had now passed.

The H1N1 virus has infected around 500,000 people across the world with more than 12,000 deaths being attributed to the virus, 70 occurring in Portugal.
