FlixBus links Lisbon to Armação de Pêra, Portimão and Lagos

German ‘bus giant’ FlixBus has expanded to the Algarve, now linking Lisbon’s Oriente station to Armação de Pêra, Portimão and Lagos.

The new bus link is being launched today (July 29) with prices starting at €5.99.

Ticket prices vary depending on when they are bought, “similarly to airlines”. In other words, they are cheaper the earlier they are purchased, the company explains.

FlixBus also highlights that its buses are “new, more comfortable and have extra leg room” as well as free Wi-Fi, an on-board entertainment service and sockets for computers, phones and tablets.

The buses also follow the Euro VI standards, described as the “most demanding in Europe in terms of CO2 emissions”, and are the most “efficient and sustainable” on the market.

Although the last year has been “particularly difficult” for passenger transportation companies, Flixbus is committed to continuing to invest in Portugal – a country that it says is its main focus for 2021.

“We continue to invest in the expansion of our domestic network, along with our local partners, and the strengthening of our international network, linking more and more Portuguese towns to small and large European cities,” said Pablo Pastega, Flixbus’ general manager for Portugal and Spain.

The company also stresses that all sanitary Covid-19 recommendations are followed. Mask-use is mandatory, and check-ins are completed via a ‘contactless’ system, while the buses are “regularly disinfected”.

Said Pastega: “In Portugal, like in other countries, medium and long-distance buses are an essential means of transport for many people, even during a pandemic. We provide a public, essential and safe service, guaranteeing the safety of those who travel with FlixBus from the very first moment.”

Tickets can be purchased online at www.flixbus.pt, on the company’s app (available for iOS and Android), directly from the bus driver or at a variety of locations in Armação de Pêra (André Tours), Lagos (Vicci Murum – Ticketshop, Pdm Travel, Lagmundo, Portugal Service, Tourlagos and Pousada da Juventude Lagos) and Portimão (Barry’s Algarve Excursions, Rotas Globais, Destino Y, Just Travel, Rickytravel, Pousada de Juventude Portimão, Emviagem Portimão, Eco Viagens, IBS Portugal – Home Office, Travel Splendor).

The bus stops are at the Portimão and Lagos bus stations and on Armação de Pêra’s main Via Dorsal, near the local health centre.
