Flixbus links Lisbon and Faro Airport

New bus link offers three daily trips

German bus operator Flixbus has just launched a new direct connection from Lisbon to Faro Airport.

Offering three daily trips, this new bus link aims to position Faro Airport as an “alternative choice for flights to and from Portugal,” the company says.

“The truth is that travelling from airports outside major capitals is much cheaper, and this route caters to the growing trend in Portugal. It’s a three-hour journey, but it’s possible to get a flight for as low as one-third of the price when compared to the same flight departing from Lisbon,” explains Pablo Pastega, General Director of FlixBus in Portugal and Spain.

This new route complements the expanded operation to the Algarve, providing over 90% more capacity this summer compared to last year’s offerings.

According to Pablo Pastega, “this is the peak vacation season for Portuguese travellers, which also justifies the increased demand, especially for beach destinations. And let’s not forget the explosive growth in the travel and tourism sector that Portugal has experienced since the beginning of the year. Portugal is considered the best country in the world to travel to, and this is clearly reflected in the demand for trips to and from the country,” he adds.

Flixbus also says that the “complete recovery from Covid, along with air travel prices and families’ loss of income, are driving more people to seek alternative means for their summer travels.”
