Bus also stops in Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto along the way
German bus operator FlixBus has launched a new night-time bus line linking the Algarve to Braga.
The route features stops in Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira and Faro in the Algarve, as well as Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto and Braga.
The full journey from Lagos to Braga (or vice-versa) takes approximately 10 hours, covering a 750-kilometre distance.
Like all FlixBus overnight bus lines, every bus will have two drivers for safety reasons.
The buses will depart from Braga at 10.05pm and arrive in Lagos at 8.05am the following morning, while in the opposite direction they will depart from Lagos at 9.30pm and arrive in Braga at 7.30am.
Ticket prices start at €9.99.
“This overnight route is especially aimed at those who don’t want to lose a day of travel on their journey to and from the Algarve,” says Pablo Pastega, General Manager of FlixBus for Portugal and Spain. “And, similar to all FlixBus overnight routes in Europe, this one will also have two drivers simultaneously during the journey, in order to guarantee an even safer trip.”
As Pastega explains, “the second driver is not resting but rather in a state of readiness and alertness. They are attentive to the driving in order to identify any signs of driver fatigue and to take action if necessary.”
Says the company, the launch of this new route is part of FlixBus’s “development and growth strategy” for operations to and from the Algarve region, aiming to meet the increased demand during this holiday season for many Portuguese people.
Flixbus has also announced that the town of Santarém in the Alentejo is joining its network, linking it to Coimbra, Porto and Braga in the north and Portimão and Lagos in the south.
