Flamingoes’ moonwalk

Algarve residents Margo Fletcher and Hilary Jessup successfully completed MoonWalk London on May 14, raising more than €3,800 for breast cancer causes.

Margo, from Santa Bárbara, and Hilary, from Vale do Lobo, dressed in pink flamingo bras to take part in the event, which had the theme, Walk on the Wild Side, and completed the walk of 26.2 miles in six hours and 17 minutes.

The MoonWalk is famous for being one of only three power walking marathons in the world and takes place through the night along the London marathon route.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Margo. “There was an electric atmosphere and it was brilliantly organised.”

She added: “The rain held off but it was a bitterly cold night but by the end we were euphoric, elated, emotional and shattered.”
