Five up!

Portimonense made it five wins from their last five home matches when emerging the more than deserved 2-1 victors over Maritimo B last Sunday.

Following a one-sided albeit goalless first half during which Simi was guilty of at least two glaring misses, January signing Anselmo finally put the Algarveans ahead in the 65th minute. Marakis then only took two minutes to pull the visitors from Madeira level, but Simi managed to atone himself shortly before the final whistle with a finish that did find the back of the net.

Manager Lazaro Oliveira’s team, put together hastily on a shoe string budget at the beginning of the season, has now amassed 43 points and can still challenge for promotion ahead of tomorrow’s (Saturday) difficult away trip to Benfica B. Skip Bandele
