Five tourists rescued from Carvoeiro’s Algar Seco

Five people – four Czech and one German – had to be rescued after being thrown against rocks by a wave at Carvoeiro’s Algar Seco beauty spot on Sunday (November 5).

Authorities were called to the scene at 2.23pm. According to Correio da Manhã tabloid, the 28-year-old German tourist sustained serious injuries and was taken to Faro Hospital.

The other four tourists sustained minor injuries, with two being taken to Portimão Hospital as precautionary measure.

Algar Seco, a section of seaside cliffs in Carvoeiro, is one of the most popular tourist hotspots in the Algarve, visited daily by tourists keen to explore its stunning caves and tunnels.

Rough sea warnings were issued over the weekend in Portugal.
