Five themes and five menus

Over several weeks a special gastronomic event will be taking place at the Tivoli Marina Hotel in Portimão.

The initiative, which began on June 26, will see five different menus, inspired by five different themes, take place until September 10.

All menus will test the taste buds of guests at the Deck Restaurant & Bar on site at the Tivoli Marina where natural wood and bright colours create a distinctive, welcoming ambience, over looking the River Arade and will present a wide range of regional dishes suited for the summer season.

General Manager of the Tivoli Marina Portimão, Miguel Alves said in a statement to the Algarve Resident: “The initiative aims to promote sustainable regional products and raise awareness of the national flavours to tourists of the Algarve. This is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity for all lovers of good food, especially for those who appreciate a good fish dish.”

Currently taking place until July 2 is a gastronomic session based on ‘Cataplanas of the Algarve’.

A selection of Cataplanas available will include a Cataplana Terra Mar, which is cooked using pork loin, sausage, shrimp and clams, alternatively, other Cataplanas will present customers with octopus, squid, tuna and more.

The Cataplana session will repeat from July 31 until August 6 and from September 4 to 10.

Secondly, the ‘Arroz dos Oceanos’ (rice of the ocean) menu will be served throughout July 3 – 9, August 7 – 13 and September 11 – 17, where fish delights including monkfish, salmon, swordfish and crab will be sampled.

The ‘Grilled Fish’ menu will feature fresh, locally caught sardines, sea bream, plus more, and will be available through July 10 – 16 and August 14 – 20.

Bringing attention to all those meat-foodies, a specially thought out menu will serve only the best grilled meats, complimented with homemade sauces.

The meat session will begin on July 17 until 27.

Last but not least, a ‘Seafood from our Coast’ menu will be cooking up grilled tiger prawns, lobster, clams and much more.
