Five nights of great music

Albufeira is holding the Festival Al-Buhera in the centre of the city at Praça dos Pescadores between July 20 and 24.

This free admission event will be open daily from 8pm to midnight and during the festival there will be music performances, craft displays and food, among others.

On the opening day of the festival (July 20) Portuguese folk band Banda Alhada will present the best of traditional Portuguese music.

On July 21, it’s time for the soul, pop and blues Portuguese singer Aurea to go on stage. Aurea, who sings in English, is one of the surprises of this year. Her first album reached the top of the sales charts in Portugal.

Jazzanova featuring Paul Rudolph will be performing on July 22. Jazzanova are one of the most well known bands of Nu Jazz worldwide and will be accompanied by vocalist Paul Rudolph.

On July 23 it will be the turn of Portuguese pianist and singer Jorge Palma.Jorge Palma is one of the most famous national artists and will certainly provide an entertaining night with his memorable songs.

To end the festival, Jamaican Andrew Tosh will bring the sounds of reggae to Albufeira on July 24.

Andrew Tosh is the son of the ‘legend’ Peter Tosh who was part of the Bob Marley’s band The Wailers.
