Five homeless after restaurant ‘explodes’ in Madeira

Five people have been rendered homeless following an explosion in a residential area of Madeira that completely destroyed a family restaurant. For now the causes of the explosion are unclear. It ripped through the property shortly before 9am this morning. Three people were on the top floor of the building at the time, and miraculously escaped with only minor injuries. A restaurant employee preparing to open the premises was also slightly injured by flying debris. Reports add that windows in neighbouring properties were blown in, and two parked cars suffered damage.
