As the Resident went to press, five fishermen from Peniche were being rescued at sea after their boat ran into difficulties 130 nautical miles (240 km) off Sagres’ Cape S. Vincent. According to press reports, fishing cables got wound round the boat’s propellers and left the men adrift. A Navy Corvette was dispatched to the rescue, but all men were reported to be in good health.
