The draw for the second round of the Portugal Cup takes place on Monday at the Portugal Football Federation headquarters at Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras. Fifteen teams from the Segunda Liga will join the first-round winners including five teams from the Algarve.
SC Farense thrashed Estrela FC 7-1 with Irobiso grabbing a first-half hat-trick; Pedro Kadri bagged a brace, with António Livramento and Fábio Gomes also getting their names on the score sheet.
Moncarapachense won 1-0 at Armacenenses thanks to a ninth minute strike by Daniel Jesus. Louletano made it to round two following a penalty shootout at home against FC Castrense. 0-0 after ninety minutes, Rafael Victor put the home side ahead in the fifth minute of extra-time but, 10 minutes later, Yaggo Gomes levelled matters for the team from Castro Verde. Lusitano VRSA travelled to Lisbon and came away with a 2-1 win against Oriental thanks to goals from José Oliveira. The region’s only local league side – CDR Quarteirense – to make it to the first round lost 5-2 at Almodôvar. Second round games will be played on Sunday, September 24.
Two local derbies
On Sunday, in the Campeonato de Portugal, Moncarapachense entertain Armacenenses whilst unbeaten SC Olhanense play Louletano DC at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão (behind McDonalds on the EN125). Both games kick-off at 5pm. The only club with 100% record, SC Farense travel to CD Pinhalnovense (Pinhal Novo, Palmela, Setúbal District).
