Fitch raises rating to “BBB+”, stable outlook

Financial ratings agency Fitch has raised Portugal’s rating from “BBB” to “BBB+”, with a stable outlook. This is the third upgrade of Portugal’s rating, after DBRS and Standard & Poor’s had also issued similar statements. The next, and last, agency scheduled to look at Portugal’s rating is Moody’s, on November 18.The rating is an evaluation given by financial notation agencies, with great impact on the financing of countries and companies, as it assesses the credit risk. Finance minister Fernando Medina has already welcomed the news, saying it is “important”.
