Fishing investment

Portugal’s minister of agriculture, rural development and fisheries has approved financial support to the tune of around 3.5 million euros for the development of the fishing industry in the Algarve.

During a visit to the region on February 20, António Serrano signed contracts as part of a national fishing programme (Promar), which will create around 20 jobs in the local industry.

One of the projects receiving support is the production of oysters in Sagres using an innovative method of growing the shellfish faster inside plastic bags.
