Fisherman dies in Octopus trap horror near Peniche

A young fisherman was caught up in cabling as his crewmates sunk octopus traps 2.5 nautical miles out to sea off the coast near Peniche on Monday. “He didn’t stand a chance,” said a colleague. “The sea took him and he went straight down.” Another fisherman died in similar circumstances not long ago in the Algarve. As we went to press, the young man’s body was still missing.
