SC Farense, who had dropped into the Segunda Liga relegation zone following a series of poor results, came good against fellow strugglers Varzim.
The 3-0 victory, thanks to goals from Lynel Kitambala (9′), Mayambela (25′) and former Benfica and Portugal international Ribeiro (86′), lifted the Faro side two points clear of the drop zone.
