First overseas Ride for Research charity event to be held in Algarve

A Ride for Research (R4R) charity event in aid of Cancer Research UK is being held on Sunday, September 24, at the Albufeira Riding Centre at Vale Navio, from 9am to 1pm.

Organiser Chloé Casey said: “It’s the first overseas R4R event as I have been granted special permission to organise it here, and luckily my friend and owner of the riding centre Sarah Fairclough agreed to host it there.”

“We have 25 riders – from the very young Pony Club kids to even an 80-year-old lady proving age is just a number.”

All riders are being sponsored and each one will receive an official R4R rosette and certificate. To sign up for the ride, you can either donate a minimum of €50 or request a sponsorship form.

Chloé continued: “Of course, it’s not all about the riding. It’s a charity event so we have set a pink and purple fancy dress theme, with a prize up for grabs for the best dressed participant.”

There will also be plenty of stalls and food, games and a raffle to keep everyone who is not riding entertained.

All ages and abilities are welcome. All funds raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
