First night!

Some 22 budding actors and actresses attended the first night’s auditions for Jonathan Weightman’s English production of Shakespeare’s brilliant comedy about love and power, Twelfth Night. Not long after receiving their lines, the actors threw themselves straight into the audtitions in various scenes from the famous play. With only a little over seven weeks to go until the opening night, there will obviously be much sweat, tears and burning of the midnight oil to polish up their lines and performances. But if the first auditions are anything to go by, the play should prove a huge success. Twelfth Night will run from November 18 to December 11, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of each week at 9.30pm at the Estrela Hall, Rua da Estrela nº 10 in Lisbon (next to the old British Hospital).
