Safe Communities Portugal (SCP) has launched the country’s first website exclusively dedicated to national crime prevention (www.safecommunitiesalgarve.com) as part of its goal to “enhance awareness on crime prevention, public safety and cyber security within all national communities”.
David Thomas, president of SCP, said he realised the national website was needed after the demand of the Safe Communities Algarve’s website extended beyond the region.
“In fact, enquiries are regularly received from overseas from people who have visited Portugal, as well as those who plan to move or invest here,” he said.
Following meetings with national police authorities in Lisbon, it was decided that the new site would be launched “with some of the input being provided by them”.
The website features a number of sections, including areas with crime prevention tips, info on cybercrimes, hot-line contacts for authorities and much more.
However, Safe Communities Algarve’s website will continue online as well to “serve the local community in the region” (www.safecommunitiesalgarve.com).
