First Ian Wright Golf Classic

Sports fans will be able to have the opportunity to tee off alongside former Arsenal footballer Ian Wright during the inaugural Ian Wright Charity Golf Classic to take place between September 22 and 25 at the Monte da Quinta Resort.

Ian Wright will be joined by some of his celebrity friends for the golf event which will be raising money for the Willow Foundation, a UK charity set up by another Arsenal former player, Bob Wilson and his wife Megs.

The Willow Foundation provides memorable and special days for seriously ill people between the ages of 16 and 40 throughout the UK and was chosen as the beneficiary of the Ian Wright Golf Classic for the next three years after Ian Wright met a man who was part of the programme.

Ian Wright met 32 year old John who was nearing the end of his life after a seven year battle with cancer.  The Arsenal fan was unable to leave hospital and Ian took the time to visit him, where he saw firsthand the positive impact and precious memories a special day can create for people and their families.

“After meeting John, I wanted to do something special to support the Willow Foundation.  The golf weekend promises to be great fun for all who take part – the opportunity to enjoy fantastic golf and stay at the luxurious Monte da Quinta resort in the Algarve along with the great weather and even better company,” said Ian Wright.

Teams of four, or three plus a celebrity, can now be booked into the tournament with various prices available depending on packages including flights and accommodation.
