THE VERY first Hilton hotel in Portugal is being built in Vilamoura and is due to open at the beginning of 2007. Real estate organisation, Imocom Group, formalised a 20-year deal with Hilton last week whereby the international hotel giant will manage a five-star hotel and spa integrated within a development to be known as The Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Resort & Spa. Total investment in the project by Imocom Group is said to be as much as 75 million euros.
Situated between Pinhal and The Old Course golf courses, the development is to be built on an area of 40,000sqm and will consist of a mixed-use integrated resort, which will include a 152-bedroom hotel, eight suites, 69 serviced apartments, a spa and 69 residential properties.
The 69 apartments, which have from one to four bedrooms, are already up for sale. The apartments are independent from the hotel building, but owners will be able to enjoy the services and facilities of the hotel and resort as well as the golf courses nearby.
Eighteenth century romanticism
The architectural design of the new resort has been based on the prevailing concept of the 18th century romantic ideal of recreating paradise in the form of an idyllic garden area, with multiple attractions such as garden pavilions, loggia, lakes and grottos.
