First easyJet plane in Lisbon given award

THE FIRST easyJet plane to land in Lisbon was awarded a giant rosette.

The symbolic ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, May 22, at Lisbon’s Portela Airport, involved top brass from both Aeroporto da Portela and Turismo de Lisboa.

With close to half a million passengers carried by the low-cost airline since the beginning of the year, easyJet is now the second largest airline operating in and out of Portugal, according to official air traffic data.

easyJet’s Director General, Arnaldo Muñoz, said he wasn’t “overly worried” about the merger between TAP Portugal and Portugália. The two airlines are to work together as one company as from July, following TAP’s forthcoming buyout of its rival.
