It was officially presented by the borough of Oeiras on Saturday and is now in 24-hour service, in collaboration with local firefighters. SOS Pet is Portugal’s first animal ambulance, designed to race to the call of injured animals needing emergency transportation. Open for use by all Oeiras residents, it will be manned by specially trained personnel, and available to all residents – however many feet they may have.
MadreMedia with Lusa explains that Oeiras council created the service “as part of the municipality’s policy for animal wellbeing”.
SOS Pet operates using the emergency line of Dafundo fire station (21 419 6084).
