First Alzheimer’s vaccine

A team of Spanish scientists has developed the first vaccine against Alzheimer’s disease which is capable of preventing or reversing manifestations of the disease. The experiments to find the vaccine were carried out on mice. Now, team leader Ramón Cacabelos, who presented the vaccine EB-101, is negotiating with several multinational corporations to start clinical trials on humans, which may start in three to four months and last as long as eight years. Researchers believe this new vaccine may double life expectancy for Alzheimer’s patients.
