First Algarve Spa Week

Billed as “One week, 10 spas, different experiences”, the first Algarve Spa Week begins tomorrow (Saturday) and runs until October 9 at venues across the Algarve.

This new tourism initiative will draw on the existing spa facilities in the Algarve and hopes to establish the region as a spa destination while encouraging new clients by offering 50 percent discount on all treatments during the week.

Algarve Spa Week will follow a similar model to promotions already running in England, Brazil and the United States and is being supported by the Algarve Tourism Board, ERTA, as a means of promoting the region to a different type of potential tourist, especially from within Portugal and from neighbouring Spain.

Nuno Aires, the president of the ERTA, said: “To continue to make the Algarve the premiere tourist destination of Portugal we need to be both creative and proactive and we need to be working with the public and private sectors to be able to achieve this.”

Hotels taking part in the pioneering tourism project include Vila Vita Parc in Porches, Hotel Quinta do Lago, Real Marina in Olhão, Tivoli Marina and the Tivoli Victoria both in Vilamoura.
