The first “Feira da Aguardente e do Mel” (firewater and honey fair) is being held on March 9 at the newly-refurbished sports complex in Aldeia da Cortelha (Salir). The event aims to showcase two of Serra do Caldeirão’s “treasures”.
Organisers say visitors will be able to taste locally-produced honey and “aguardente” on the day.
As part of the fair’s programme, there will also be a guided visit to local distilleries and an exhibition of handicrafts and local products.
Live music will be played throughout the day and a food stall will serve “serrana” gastronomy, local traditional dishes.
The fair is organised by the Friends of Cortelha Association, with the support of Loulé town hall and Salir parish council.
