Following on from their outrage last week, the League of Portuguese Firefighters is now demanding prime minister António Costa sacks the president of the forestry management agency that operates under his watch. In a letter delivered to the PM today, the league describes “an irredeemable breakdown in confidence” since the ‘perverse’ comments made by Tiago Oliveira in parliament, that fire corporatinos were paid “according to the area of land burnt”. Their letter follows the lack of reaction given to this issue by politicians to date.
