Saturday’s wildfire which devastated parts of Monchique and Portimão on Saturday (July 19) has reignited this afternoon, the national civil protection authority has confirmed on its website.
The blaze broke out in Sítio da Pereira in Mexilhoeira Grande (Portimão).
The fire had been brought under control on Sunday morning and was being monitored by firefighters.
Update: Fire commander Richard Marques and Monchique Mayor Rui André have both confirmed that the reignition has already been brought under control by firefighters.
